APMT Joins New Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute

(New Orleans, LA, U.S.) ‒ Advanced Polymer Monitoring Technologies, Inc. (APMT) was selected to be a participant in the new Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute. On June 20, 2016 the Obama Administration announced that the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition (SMLC), in partnership with the Department of Energy’s Advanced Manufacturing Office, will lead the new  Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute. APMT is proud to be one of nearly 200 participants across thirty states in industry, academia, and non-profit organizations.

The Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute will focus on innovations that dramatically reduce energy expenses in advanced manufacturing by accelerating development and adoption of advanced sensors, data analytics and controls in manufacturing. These new Smart Manufacturing connected devices and associated control software will enable optimization of operations to reach new levels of manufacturing efficiency.

APMT is focused on deployment of industrial internet of things devices, as well as process control and data analytics software to develop a testbed for smart manufacturing of polymers. APMT is joined in this effort by a team in the Gulf Coast Regional Center, led by Texas A&M. APMT will partner with Tulane University, Louisiana State University and others to develop a new generation of technologies to advance the polymer processing industries in the gulf coast region.
